Description

Learn about geothermal energy and how it provides fruit, flower, and vegetable life.

CADIP offers a volunteer program where participants can engage in Forestry and Gardening activities in the small town of Hveragerdi in Iceland. Located east of Reykjavik, the program places participants at a rehabilitation and health clinic, where they work in the horticultural and environmental department (forestry, gardening, and work in greenhouses). The volunteers will also maintain the green areas around the clinic, collect herbs for making tea and assist with other environmental tasks as needed.

Volunteers can discover this friendly little community where geothermal fields are highly active which provides heat to greenhouses. During weekends, participants can join in weekend excursions where they get to visit the attractions of Iceland.

Cadip volunteer project review: "I had an incredible time in Iceland in August, it was my first time doing a Cadip volunteer program and it was absolutely amazing, rewarding, challenging and fun. The nature was breathtaking and I enjoyed talking to people from all over the world and immersing myself in a new local culture. I enjoyed getting to know the values, traditions and daily routine of locals and expanding my knowledge of other cultures and ideals." Maia N., Cadip volunteer
