THE GIRLS IN TECH IMPACT
Girls in Tech is the world’s largest women in tech organization with 100,000 members in 36 countries, six continents and over 1 million followers on social media. Since our founding in 2007, over 50,000 women have attended our Catalyst Conference. We have funded, mentored and supported over 10,000 entrepreneurs through AMPLIFY, our startup pitch competition. Our coding, design, and startup Bootcamps have garnered over 125,000 participants. Our online learning platform, the Global Classroom has taught over 60,000 students how to develop websites and print in 3D. And lastly, our Hackathon series has attracted 175,000 participants to solve local and global problems. We’re always innovating and creating new programs to respond to the local and global needs of our Girls in Tech members.
WHY START A CHAPTER?
Girls in Tech has 60 chapters around the world which are run by very passionate and dedicated volunteers, both women and men with a vision to empower, engage and educate women. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AS A MANAGING DIRECTOR?
Below is an overview of the Managing Director’s role and responsibilities:
- The Managing Director (MD) is a volunteer leadership position, responsible for serving as the chapter lead for their location. The MD is expected to honor the policies and procedures set by Girls in Tech Global (Global).
- Responsible for the overall leadership of the chapter, as well as recruiting and managing its Advisory Board (typically 5-8 team-members that support running the chapter with the MD). The time commitment varies per chapter, but a good rule of thumb is about 4-6 hours a week.
- Shares responsibilities with Board for organizing and producing Girls in Tech programs on a quarterly basis, encouraged to do more frequently (Bootcamps, Hacking for Humanity, AMPLIFY Pitch Competition, panel discussions, etc.).
- Shares responsibilities, with Board, for providing Global with bi-annual reporting on the following: (1) membership and attendance metrics for all program events, (2) schedule of upcoming programs, (3) accounting details and status, (4) sponsorship and partnerships secured.
- Meet with your Board on a bi-monthly basis either in-person or by conference call.
- Ensure proper usage of all GIT branding and messaging within your Chapter on all channels.
- Maintain a level of professionalism as a representative of our global organization within your respective community.
- Work with Global to roll out and participate in new programs, announcements, global marketing efforts, etc.
*Since Girls in Tech Global is based in the United States, proficiency in English is required at this time.

- Please fill out the form by following the link so that we can learn more about you and how you’d like to get involved in the organization.
- A member of the Girls in Tech Global team will reach out to you to begin the interview process.
- After completing the interviewing phase, we will begin the on-boarding phase where the Chapter Relations Manager will work with you to educate and train you on Girls in Tech’s core programming, recruitment practices, etc.
- The GIT Global team will work closely with you and your local team to ensure that your chapter grows to support the community in the most impactful way.
