Description

Volunteers are needed for intake and referral of complaints about civil liberties and other violations and general reception duties. Volunteers are responsible for handling initial intake calls. Volunteers screen calls and write up appropriate complaints for review by our intake attorneys and also learn to give referrals to appropriate agencies. Must be able to use telephone and intake database on which you would be trained. Some familiarity with ACLU issues and a patient and calm demeanor are very helpful. Volunteers work one regularly assigned four-hour shift (9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.) WEEKDAYS Monday-Friday and are an integral part of the daily operations at the downtown Boston office of the ACLU of Massachusetts. Intake volunteers need to be able to commit to a regular weekly 4-hour shift and be available to continue for at least 6 months since training takes at least 3 sessions with an experienced volunteer. Please contact us via info@aclum.org if you are interested in this particular recurring work and we can let you know when a shift might be opening up.

Other volunteer opportunities with less time commitment may be available depending on your availability and background/skills. For OTHER volunteer opportunities, please sign up here: https://aclum.org/take-action/volunteer/
