Volunteers Needed!

The Community Education Center of Pallata, part of the Sacred Valley Project, (www.sacredvalleyproject.org) and four hotels have partnered to offer a great volunteer experience!

If you are interested in non-profit management, education, customer service, business, or international development and you speak English and advanced Spanish then this is the volunteer experience for you!

The volunteer would work at a hotel in Ollantaytambo and the Community Education Center of Pallata.

The hotels need front desk assistants to help with check-in/checkout and provide visitors with tour information in English. This position would involve handling money, explaining service options, and requires a friendly personality who likes to meet new people. The volunteer would work a morning shift from 7:30am-12:00pm and then teach in the afternoons 3 days a week from 3pm to 6pm. Some flexibility will be needed to help visitors who many not fit into the morning check-in, checkout times.

The Community Education Center of Pallata needs volunteer teachers to help teach English, Computer Science, Math, Literacy, Art or whatever else the volunteers might want teach. Pallata is a Quechua (Indigenous) community about 20 minutes up the mountain from Ollantaytambo, and serves students from primary school (ages 6-12) up to adults. Transportation will be provided for the volunteers to and from Ollantaytambo.

Volunteers would need to be able to commit to teaching and working at the hotel for at least one month. The regular teaching schedule would be in the afternoons from around 3pm until around 6pm three days a week.

In exchange the volunteers would be given a place to stay as well as breakfast, lunch and transportation to the community education center. There are also opportunities to earn a little extra money through commission by selling tours to interested visitors!

The volunteers would have their evenings to themselves and days off to explore the Sacred Valley, go for some incredible hikes, and visit Machu Picchu. In addition, volunteers who do an exemplary job would receive letters of recommendation from University Professors and/or the Hotel Owners for future positions.

Interested volunteers can contact Joseph Levitan at jlevitan [at] Sacredvalleyproject.org. Volunteer positions are available to start in June or July 2018. The position is perfect for couples or travel buddies who want a solid place to stay and to work for a while.
