The St. Francis Living Room is a 501c3 non-profit that aims to improve the quality of life for low income and homeless seniors by providing a safe haven for social interaction, a healthy breakfast, and connection to community services such as housing, health and wellness, and clothing. The Living Room serves breakfast to 65-90 people each weekday. A third of our clients are homeless, and twenty percent disabled.
We operate with the help of 4-5 volunteers each weekday. Duties can include getting the room ready for breakfast service, helping with food preparation, greeting clients, serving food, clearing tables, washing dishes, sweeping, and mopping. What is most important is that we treat our clients with kindness, dignity and respect. Volunteer shifts begin at 8 a.m. and end at 10:45 a.m.
We are located at 350 Golden Gate Avenue between Larkin and Hyde Streets in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. We are easily accessible via BART or Muni.
Contact us via email with any questions or to set up a time to come in. Give it a try. You'll find it very rewarding.
