Description

Know your way around the insides of a coffee machine, Autobot toy, Autobot, sewing machine, or iPhone? Love to tinker, and better yet, fix stuff? Want to show your repair skills to the world? Come join us!

Our Fixing Sessions will give you the chance to show your repair skills to a captive audience! You'll tutor and guide people through the repair process. We will ooh and ahh at your repair prowess while you git 'er dun!

We also need you to photograph and capture our Fixing Sessions. Lighting will most likely be crappy indoor warm stuff and even at that, not enough of it. You will likely capture at least two people trying to repair stuff. Preference to those with their own DSLR setup, even with just the kit lens. All attributions we read "Photography by ..."

We also need people to interview those coming in to have their stuff repaired. You'll ask about their stuff, what happened to it, market value, etc. We need to capture metrics!

Time commitment is about 8-10 hours per month (two Wednesdays per month from 7-10pm). There may be other one-off meetings and events in addition to the two Wednesday sessions. Some of these one-offs may include the Brooklyn Public Library, the Gowanus Dredgers, and World Maker Faire New York (you'll get admitted to the Faire at the Hall of Science for free).
