Description

Math teachers needed for primary and junior schools in Ghana Africa. Ghana is one of the friendliest countries in Africa and the world for that matter. You'll certainly feel very welcome working as a volunteer teacher in any part of this lovely country which enjoys sunshine practically all year round.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

Persons who want to teach math in a school or orphanage home in Ghana must have at least successfully completed high school.

Ability to communicate in basic English is also a requisite.

WHAT CAN YOU TEACH?

The mathematics curriculum for basic schools in Ghana covers topics that are broadly similar to those in other countries - so anyone who passed high school math in their home country would be able to impart some of the knowledge to the kids; and it will be relevant

WHERE WILL YOU TEACH?

Schools are located in southern Ghana. Volunteers will have their own apartment within walking distance of the school - your own bedroom furnished with a bed, chair, table and fan. Bathroom and toilet will be adjacent.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Accommodation and food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be provided by your host school. Meals are made up staples like rice, pasta, yam (like potato) vegetable stews and soups, fruits, bread, tea, coffee. Past volunteers have reported that our foods taste good! Ghanaians know how to cook tasty foods. Please note that we are able to cater to different kinds of tastes -- if you like spicy foods you don't have a problem :). On the other hand if you DON'T like spicy foods, we'll make sure the taste is right for you... rest assured!

School starts at 8.30 am and is over by 3 pm. The actual hours you teach will be carefully tailored to meet your capacity/stamina.
