Duration

Long-Term (6 months-1 year)

CASA Volunteers are appointed by family court judges to advocate for the best interest of an abused or neglected child during their time in the child welfare system. They are in essence, the voice of the child, in court. CASA Volunteers interview parents, doctors, educators, foster parents, therapists, and anyone else involved in the life of the child to which they are assigned. Their goal is to provide child-focused reports to the court, which will lead to a speedy, safe, and permanent placement for the child. This is why it is imperative for these volunteers to go through extensive training.

Our volunteers advocate for children who have been abused and help them on the path to safe and permanent homes.

In order to become a CASA Volunteer you must:

  • attend an Information Session
  • have a personal interview
  • attend all ten in class training sessions
  • attend court observation and swearing-in

I have attached some general information for your review. The first step to becoming a CASA volunteer is to attend an Information Session. Our next information sessions are Wednesdays, May 15th and June 19th at 10am and 5:30pm. You can check our website for other upcoming information sessions as we schedule them.

Next Training- TBD

You must be able to attend all days/nights of training in order to complete the training class. There will be 10 in class sessions.
