Description

Behind the Book is a non-profit literacy organization that inspires New York City public school students to love reading. Through a series of workshops, students read an assigned book, meet the author to learn about the writing process, and create their own writing projects. We’ve served more than 14,500 students and donated more than 40,000 books since our founding in 2003.

We’re seeking a volunteer photographer to document our 15th anniversary celebration and annual benefit that raises funds to support our mission. It’s preferable that you have experience covering similar events.

  • Thursday, November 8th, 2018
  • 6:30 - 9:30 PM
  • Strand Rare Book Room, 828 Broadway (corner of 12th Street and Broadway), Manhattan

We’ll also be honoring Judy Newman, Reader-in-Chief and President of Scholastic Book Clubs and e-Commerce platforms at Scholastic, and Renée Watson, New York Times bestselling author, educator, and activist.
