About TDE: 

The Difference Engine is a nonprofit organization with a mission to empower nontraditional developers wishing to launch careers in tech through our web development apprenticeship program. We build MVP websites and software for no-low revenue nonprofit organizations and social enterprises pro bono. During our apprenticeship, developers seeking full time employment build a live portfolio and learn to work in a real life team environment following agile software development processes. Nonprofit organizations and social enterprise receive mission impactful technology they otherwise would not have access to as part of this program. 

Role: TDE Technical Project Managers (TPMs) serve as the day-to-day mentors and guides for our volunteer developer apprentices. Along with the Product Owner, TPMs represent the business in the agile development team to ensure we build the right features to meet the needs of our clients. TPMs document client requirements as user stories and work with the apprentice developers on translating these stories into working code and verifying that stories meet acceptance criteria. Other activities may involve leading retrospectives at the end of each sprint, coaching apprentices on demos to the client, and reviewing client requirements for consistency. If you currently work or have worked in a product management, technical project management, or similar role inside a software company for at least 6 months and have a passion to give back to the tech community, this could be a great volunteer position for you! This is a remote role. The program operates Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6 - 9 PM Central Time; you must be available for two out of those three nights.
