ABOUT WORLD OF CHILDREN
World of Children unlocks the future for vulnerable children by funding, elevating and educating the most effective changemakers for children worldwide working in the areas of health, humanitarian, protection, education, and youth helping youth.
OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVE
The World of Children Board of Governors is a select group of executive leaders who are passionate about making a profound difference in the lives of vulnerable children around the world. The primary objective of the board is to help shape World of Children’s strategic direction, provide leadership, galvanize resources, and monitor and improve organizational performance.
ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS
Each year, Board Members are encouraged to participate in two teleconference meetings (lasting no more than 90 minutes) and one in-person strategy meeting. The in-person strategy meeting is scheduled around our annual Awards Ceremony and takes place in New York City each fall. In 2018, the strategy meeting will be held on November 2.
To contribute to our funding and fundraising needs, Board Members are encouraged to make planned annual gifts of a minimum of $10,000, or more, each year. Gifts from our board generously cover the operating costs for World of Children so that public donations go directly to the programs we support for vulnerable children.
Board Members support our three major awards and fundraising events through attendance, sponsorship solicitation and invitation outreach. They are encouraged to help raise additional funds by soliciting corporate or individual gifts and taking part in peer-to-peer fundraising opportunities like our share-your-day program.
