Sabrewing Media Group's is a startup non-profit organization whose nonprofit goal and mission is to help foster, spread and grow the inclusion of under-representated Latino and African American voices within

the film industry.

We are looking for motivated, compassionate, and reliable individuals interested in being on our Board of Directors. This position is voluntary - there is no financial compensation.


The Board will support the work of Sabrewing Media Group and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by Sabrewing Media Group chief executive officer (CEO),

the Board-CEO relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement

of the Board is both critical and expected.

Specific Board Member

responsibilities include:

Leadership, governance and oversight

Serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO as she develops and implements Sabrewing Media Group strategic plan

Approving Sabrewing Media Group annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal responsibilities

Assisting the CEO and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board


Ensuring Sabrewing Media Group commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities Sabrewing Media Group serves

Also, as a board member, we expect participation in one or more of the


A Nominating Committee: Will actively search for candidates to serve as

members of the Board or honorary Directors and officers.

A Fundraising Committee: Shall actively raise supplemental funds to

support operating expenses and long-term goals. This will include

planning and executing new fundraiser ideas and goals. Those with

experience in planning and executing non-profit fundraisers would be

greatly appreciated.

An Outreach Committee: Responsible for networking and public outreach

of our agency and services. Will also coordinate volunteers. This can

include participating in public speakings and community events.

Board terms/participation

Sabrewing Media Group's Board Members will serve a three-year term to be

eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Board meetings will be

held quarterly and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full

board meetings.


This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about

Sabrewing Media Group's mission and who has a track record of board


Selected Board members will have achieved leadership stature in

the Film Industry business, or the nonprofit sector.

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership

accomplishments in the Film or television business

Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships

and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among

diverse individuals

Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the

lives of Sabrewing Media Group's beneficiaries
