Retail Assistant at Rainham Marshes
- Volunteer Opportunity posted by RSPB Rainham Marshes nature reserve
Times of day
A few hours per week
Long-Term (6 months-1 year)
New Tank Hill Road
What we're looking for
We want enthusiastic and friendly people to be a part of our team, and be surrounded by the beautiful RSPB Rainham Marshes nature reserve. You will be working as part of the retail team, welcoming and serving visitors, answering their questions and helping to keep the shop looking great. RSPB shops and catalogues raise nearly 10% of our income, so with your help we can do even more to save nature.
The skills you need
The most important skill you will need in this role is an outgoing, enthusiastic and friendly personality. We want all our customers to be met with a smile and have an excellent experience with the RSPB. You'll need to be accurate and reliable at handling money and stock. An interest in wildlife and conservation will also be essential in helping people with their wildlife enquiries and choosing the right product for them.
Minimum: Half a day per week (3-4 hours), we really need help on weekends and Bank Holidays
Period: All year round
What's in it for you?
You will join a thriving team of staff and volunteers and be able to take part in our training and social events programme. It's a great opportunity to meet new people, gain skills and build confidence. The shop will help raise vital funds for conservation work, so you will be directly helping the wildlife at Rainham Marshes and beyond. You will also be able to get out and enjoy the reserve before and after your shift.
When you start, you will be given RSPB uniform and a name badge. Appropriate training will be provided and expenses will be reimbursed where necessary.
