- Volunteer Opportunity posted by Scientific Adventures for Girls
A few hours per month
Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville
Scientific Adventures for Girls needs volunteers who are passionate about STEM and working with children to assist in out-of-school time STEM classes for girls in K-5th grades. You can come once a week for 8-10 weeks for a 1.25-hour class. You would be engaging the girls with hands-on projects each week and helping build their confidence around STEM, teach collaboration, problem solving, perseverance and that it is ok to make a mistake.
WHEN: Throughout the year, once a week for 8-10 weeks, typically between 3:00-5:00pm | Commitment Up to 13 hours (varies)
WHERE: Elementary Schools in Oakland, Berkeley and Emeryville
SAFG's mission is to keep kids, especially girls and under served youth (starting at the age of 5), engaged in STEM for the long term, either as professionals in STEM fields or as contributing members of the global community with a strong background in technological skills and scientific methods.
SAFG envisions a gender equitable society, where all girls know their full potential and know they are capable of great things. They will be equipped with 21st century skills.
