Our group is associated with some monasteries within Kathmandu valley and other areas of Nepal. We provide information to volunteers to join as a volunteer teacher in monasteries through our partner organization. In this program, volunteers will teach English to the monks at Tibetan monastery.

Volunteers especially who are interested in Buddhist culture and religion may join this program, volunteers will stay near the monastery or in the monastery depending on place available. Volunteers go everyday to run English practice classes to the novice monks in the monastery school. We can provide longer and shorter stays upon request; however, one month teaching is minimum requirement. Volunteers will teach English to young monks for around 1 to 2 hours every day. Volunteers will also help local school 1 to 2 hours each day, in total volunteers will be teaching 2 to 4 hours a day.

Accommodation and Food: Our partner organization will organize volunteers logistic arrangements. At the placement each volunteer lives in a guest house in a separate room with basic furniture. They will provide two main meals a day, morning break fast will be a small (tea, toast or an egg), for drinking - bottle water should be brought in a shop near by. The typical Nepalese meal is 'daal, bhaat, tarkaari' (lentil soup, rice and vegetables) also other food like noodles, 'roti' (flat round bread). You will be eating the same food as the family eats everyday. Electricity is available and phone/ internet service will be accessed close by the village. Every Saturdays you will have a day off, as all Nepali do.

Volunteer Work:

Volunteers will have a good opportunity to teach in monastery schools, which are located in villages.
