Baltimore County 4-H is part of a national organization that provides positive youth development for youth all over the world. The organization provides developmental opportunities to youth in the areas of science, health and citizenship. Baltimore County 4-H is seeking a “4-H Afterschool VISTA that will grow the current outreach footprint in order for more youth to have equitable access to 4-H programming in Baltimore County, Maryland. The result will be that youth in underrepresented areas will have exposure to youth development which will translate into establishment of at least 3 community clubs and increase engagement for positive change.
The VISTA will help Baltimore County 4-H create a sustainable system for outreach program volunteers. The VISTA will conduct a needs assessment of Baltimore County to determine where to concentrate efforts for volunteer recruitment for target area(s). The VISTA will assist with curriculum selection for Train the Trainer events at MOST VISTA target area(s) programs in order to ensure that the program used at locations are appropriate based on age, development and interest. Candidate will also assist with training activities associated with Train the Trainer events to provide support to new and existing sites. Candidate will also conduct site visits to program locations to monitor program success and provide on-going support to sites as needed using a VISTA developed tracking system. VISTA will provide on-going Professional Development to staff members at target sites and repeat the process in order to create a sustainable system.
