Description

Gould Farm is the first residential therapeutic community in the nation dedicated to helping adults with mental illness move toward recovery, health and greater independence through community living, meaningful work and individual clinical care.

In a supportive community environment made up of residents, staff and their families, we help adults with depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder and schizophrenia begin to rebuild and regain their lives. Gould Farm offers a full continuum of care, with a Boston-area program for those ready for new challenges and structured transition.

Residential Volunteer

The Residential Volunteer position provides an excellent opportunity for you to help people living with mental illness in a direct and meaningful way. The Residential team provides support for Guests in their off-work time: organizing activities, driving trips off-farm, assisting with activities of daily living, and most importantly, forming relationships with the people we serve. As a part of the team, you will have a chance to be a part of a progressive mental health recovery program that values community living and holistic healing. Some of our residential volunteers have an interest in eventually pursuing a post graduate degree in social work, psychiatry, or other related fields. This position provides an opportunity to gain important experience that provides a context for future studies in this field.

Benefits: Volunteers who commit to a one-year assignment receive room and board, medical insurance, and a bi-weekly stipend.

B.A. degree or equivalent work experience is desired. This position requires mature, flexible individuals who enjoy living and working in a community milieu, within an integrated and progressive team structure. Experience working with people and leading and directing the work of others is desirable. Must be able to sleep overnight in Guest residences. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record are essential.
