Description

We invite you to come volunteer at The Arc of the Capital Area! Here at The Arc we provide resources for 2,000+ adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in 17 counties. Dedicated to providing fulfilling and artistic lives for our clients, we have created an art studio providing classes Monday through Friday. Our students learn everything from painting to performing arts and sell their work at local art shows.

Volunteers assist our clients with ideas and inspiration for their art projects, as well as gathering supplies, helping them stay on task, encouraging, and socializing. Our Monday classes are focused on digital media/arts, Tuesdays focus on performing arts as well as light yoga, while our Wednesday through Friday classes are focused on more classic visual arts, such as painting and drawing. We ask that volunteers commit to at least 1 shift per week for a 3 month period. NO ARTISTIC TALENT REQUIRED.

The art studio is open Monday- Friday from 9:00-2:00. The students break for lunch from 11:30-12, so volunteers are welcome to eat with them if they’d like.
