Description

Description: Every student needs someone who believes in them, who acts as a cheerleader and says, “You can do this!” Here in the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), volunteers are needed in just about every subject. Spend one hour, once a week sharing your skills with a public school student.

Volunteers in SFUSD are trained, placed and supported by the San Francisco Education Fund. We know you are looking for a way to get involved, and we are eager to help you find a placement that works for you and the students you will serve. We will help tailor your volunteer placement to be the best fit for you.

Volunteer close to home or close to work, read with an elementary school student or practice math with a middle schooler, encourage the arts or emphasize STEM.

When: Prospective volunteers should plan to attend a training session in August or September and commit to volunteering at least one hour, once a week during or immediately after the school day for the duration of the school year. Education Fund staff will help volunteers find a day, time and classroom that fits each volunteer’s schedule.

Where: Education Fund staff will work with prospective volunteers to help them find a San Francisco Unified School District school that is compatible with the volunteer’s interests and schedule as well as individual school’s needs.
