Do you love to write?

Are you a details person?

Are you great at project and people management?

Come be Do a Barrel Roll's Content Coordinator - Stories Section!

Who are we?

We're Do a Barrel Roll (, a new registered Canadian non-profit dedicated to driving positive social change through gaming of all types. We run on a rotating thematic cycle, focusing our programming and projects on a particular subject every few years. Until 2021, Do a Barrel Roll is targeting its efforts on Community and Belonging.

The Work

As part of its current theme, Do a Barrel Roll is working to challenge stereotypes and persistent narratives associated with gaming. Particularly, we want to help tell the stories of those who have used gaming as means of positive change in their own lives. Those who have used it to build confidence, to find community, to feel a sense of belonging.

As our new Content Coordinator - Stories Section, you'll be working on the following:

  1. Helping the Executive Director develop a Content Plan and Strategy for this publication stream;
  2. Working to source stories and coordinate volunteer contributors;
  3. Reviewing submissions and recommending changes/edits to contributors; and
  4. Dreaming up new written or multimedia content ideas for the organization to explore.

We are looking for a commitment of 4 hours a month for this role, although we are certainly flexible and open to discussion on this point.

Your Profile

You should be a superstar writer with some experience in peer-review/editing/journalism (broadly defined).

You're a go-getter. You love to hunt for that perfect story. You can't wait to interview someone interesting. You've always got tons of ideas.

You can manage deadlines and handle multi-tasking with ease.

You love gaming. You don't need to be a regular cosplay feature at Comic-Con but you should be able to understand the terms and ideas that contributors use.

You know how to use a Squarespace blog system.

A degree of some kind would be preferred but not necessarily required.
