Prospect Park Zoo Volunteer Specialties - something for everyone!

  • WCS Now Interpreter - lead hands on activities and WCS conservation actions at various areas of the park. Strong improvisation skills with a flair for the theatrical needed. Interpreters can also train to narrate daily sea lion feedings (Three 4 hour shifts a month minimum)
  • Expedition Leader-lead inquiry-based explorations of the zoo with groups and families. Bring your passion to exploring the zoo. (As needed, three 4 hour shifts a month minimum)
  • Play Partner- interact with children and their caregivers in the Discovery Center and at our outdoor Nature Playscape. If you love playing, being outside and having dirt under your fingernails, consider this specialty. (Two 5 hour shifts a month minimum, weekends only)
  • Education Assistant- help with our weekday education classes and camps. Bring your love of teaching and learning to our programs. (As needed - two 4 hours shifts a month minimum).
  • Special Events Support- help with fun events. A chance to get your feet wet in the world of volunteering- (sporadic one or two day events)
