Advisory Board Member

Job purpose

The Social Innovators Advisory Board serves as a critical community champion of the SIAA Nonprofit. Members of the Advisory Council share their talents to our mission of solve systemic causes of social inequities. The advisors provide the SIAA with professional expertise, diverse perspectives from their fields of study, and their practical experience n. Also, they provide access to national or international resources, colleagues, or peers; their philanthropic support or other forms of needed assistance. The Advisory Board has no governing function within the organization. The Advisors serve as a sounding board to develop the SIAA’s Social Innovation methods, processes, tools, and applications.

Expectations:

  • Act annually in some significant way to support the organization’s mission (e.g., knowledge sharing, brokering relationships, funding or fundraising)
  • Allow the SIAA to publicize your short bio and photograph as a participant in the SIAA social media and websites platforms, and other marketing materials
  •  Attend events such as the quarterly meeting, annual membership conference, or special gatherings
  • Between formal meetings, participate in pre-publication reviews, project evaluations, or occasional Delphi method solicitations to name a few

Structure:

  • Recruiting a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 15 advisors
  • Selected volunteers are nominated and elected by the board of directors
  • Up to two (2) consecutive, one-year terms
  • The SIAA seeks a diversity of fields of study, professions, and industries; Thus, examples of potential expertise include, but are not limited to, the following: 
  •  Social Innovators
  • Experience Designers (XD)
  • Social Entrepreneurs
  • Social & Humanitarian Researchers
  • Psychologists and Psychiatrist
  • STEAM Designers, Innovators & Inventors
  • Innovation & Technology Experts
  • Science & Technology Journalist
  • Futurists
  • Social Systems Analysts
  • And other relevant professionals

Qualifications

  • Includes any combination of the following:
  • An interest or willingness to apply your field of study or profession to solving social problems with any combination of innovative services, processes, or products
  • Published works in peer-reviewed articles, books, general publications, or in any variety of other media exposure
  • National or international awards or recognition in your chosen field of study or profession
  • Other accomplishments to include patents, discoveries, or contributions to a body of knowledge
