A few hours per month
Long-Term (6 months-1 year)
N, NE and SE Portland
Do you want to help people continue to live full lives?
Do you have a car or want to drive our van?
Do you have a little time each week or month?
Seniors in our community need short rides to get to or from appointments and social engagements.
Through our volunteers, Project Linkage provides over 32,000 rides a year to seniors and people with disabilities - yet we still need more volunteers.
On some days, we have to turn down as many as 40 requests for rides from seniors in our community. Imagine not being able to go to the grocery store, the doctor, or to visit a friend?!
Project Linkage has a volunteer opportunity for you to provide safe, reliable transportation for seniors.
This opportunity is:
VERY FLEXIBLE. You let us know when you are available, we let you know who needs a ride and where.
VERY IMPORTANT. The ride you provide makes the difference between someone getting to an appointment or not, between being able to be engaged in the community or not.
VERY REWARDING. You get to meet the people you are helping, sharing some time together. Many of our drivers have gotten to know their riders, and now have 'regulars' that they drive. Others enjoy meeting new and different people each time. As a Project Linkage driver you join a team of great, caring volunteers.
- Must have a valid Oregon driver's license,
- Volunteers must be 23 years of age or older and have been driving for a minimum of 5 years,
- Have a good driving record and submit to a criminal background and driving history check,
- Complete an application and training process.
Project Linkage is a program of Metropolitan Family Service. MFS helps people move beyond the limitations of poverty, inequity and social isolation.
