Description

Volunteer with DC's Produce Plus program as a Farmers' Market Brigade volunteer! There are over 30 farmers' markets that need your help to increase fresh food access at DC farmers' markets.

To become a volunteer, you must attend a two-hour volunteer training with DC Greens this spring. Visit our website to RSVP for our volunteer trainings in May and help increase fresh food access for all!

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Commit to 5 volunteer market shifts (or more!) between June and September (2-4 hours each)
  • Distribute Produce Plus checks at a farmers’ markets
  • Provide excellent customer service and care to all farmers’ market customers

But... what is Produce Plus? Through Produce Plus, any DC resident who receives SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, Medicare QMB, Senior Grocery Plus, TANF, or SSI is eligible to receive up to $20 per week to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers’ markets across the city. Last year, we distributed over $800,000 to almost 9,500 Produce Plus customers.
