Description

Hi, Idealist community! My name is Emily Silverman and I'm a doctor in San Francisco. I also run a live storytelling event (and podcast) called The Nocturnists, where doctors tell real stories about life in medicine. I'm excited to announce that we are coming to NYC this fall! Our show will be on the evening of Tuesday, 10/30 at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe in Lower Manhattan.

The theme of the event is "death." We selected 8 stories from >40 submissions. The reason I'm writing is: I'm looking for a few volunteers to serve as "story coaches." While physicians have great stories, they may not have experience in the performing arts, and often need help crafting their story into an arc, and working on pacing/timing/delivery, etc. Coaches usually exchange 4-5 "drafts" with the storyteller, either in person, on the phone, or over e-mail. The time commitment is usually around 5-10 hours.
