NYS Department of State, Division of Community Services is proud to sponsor the Empire Corps VISTA program, in which members help to reduce poverty in sixteen cities across New York State.
Work with the Economic Opportunity Program of Chemung and Schuyler County. Experience capacity building projects that focus on reducing poverty in the community through multiple programs. Organize and attend community outreach events and encourage residents to access services through EOP programs. Design and conduct a community needs assessment for Elmira that captures how poverty can be reduced for residents. Use the findings of the study to come up with strategies for implementation.
