Description

Volunteer Pet Therapy for Hospice Patients

If your pet has completed companion pet training or certified by a qualified veterinarian, and you would enjoying sharing your pet's love and energy, we have clients waiting for your visits.

What will you do?

Each volunteer and their pet are assigned to an individual client and becomes a crucial part of a Hospice Team that cares for your client's physical, social and spiritual needs.

You and your pet will bring special pleasure and companionship to our clients and their families in nursing facilities, board & care homes, and private residences throughout Santa Clara County while you share the colorful lives of our clients.

After hospice orientation is complete, you will have flexibility in the times and locations where you serve.

Requirements:

  • Your pet must have completed a program of companionship training and be certified by a qualified veterinarian prior to visiting clients.
  • Attend an additional human orientation class on hospice care. After training we will ask you to give a minimum of an hour or two a week on average.
  • Minimum Age requirement is 18 years old.
