SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) is currently recruiting Site Coordinators for our programs in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties. As a SMART Site Coordinator, you will lead a team of committed volunteers and make a significant contribution to your local school. Responsibilities include providing program oversight during reading sessions, acting as a key point of contact at our schools, and creating a welcoming, organized-environment for our volunteer Readers and students. This leadership volunteer position is an indispensable piece for creating a successful SMART program.
SMART is an early literacy nonprofit that envisions an Oregon in which every child can read and is empowered to succeed. We engage community volunteers to help PreK-third grade children become confident readers by providing one-on-one literacy support, valuable adult mentorship, and books to keep.
Programs run during school hours Monday - Friday. Time commitment is 2 - 8 hours per week, depending on elementary school assignment and your availability. Many of our programs share the Site Coordinator role with a small team of volunteers. Programs run from mid-September through mid-May.
The SMART Site Coordinator is essential to ensuring that a SMART program is able to open at a school.
