Description

FareStart is a nonprofit, social entrepreneurial organization in Seattle that operates a job placement and training program benefiting homeless and disadvantaged men, women, and youth. Our Community Meals program incorporates recovered food into roughly 800 nutritious meals a day, 365 days a year, serving several area emergency and transitional facilities.


Donation processing volunteers help to properly clean and store donated food in the Community Meals Kitchen. Volunteers play a key role in maintaining the organization and success of the Food Recovery program.


Volunteer Duties: Volunteers help unload, wash, weigh, and store fresh produce.


  • Ability to stand on hard surface for 1.5 hours and lift 20-40 pounds is important
  • Our insurance requires all volunteers to be at least 18-years-old


We are looking for 1-2 volunteers for shifts that run from July - October. Volunteers must commit to a reoccurring weekend schedule, Saturday or Sunday (some flexibility with vacation/work is understood). 


Dates/Times:


3-4:30pm on the following Wednesdays: 7/11, 7/18, 8/1, 8/8, 8/15, 8/22, 9/12, 9/19, 10/10, 10/24


9:15-11:15am every other Friday, 7/13 through 10/26
