The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in partnership with the Public Health Foundation (PHF), invite distance learning educators who need to know how to develop online training products, to apply to the CDC E-learning Institute Fellowship (ELI). The ELI Fellowship is a no cost, six-month online program that empowers education and training professionals with limited experience developing e-learning products to improve their course development skills. Participants will create an online training product, receive mentoring support from CDC and outside e-learning experts, collaborate with peers, and take part in online learning opportunities. In addition to online collaboration and mentorship, participants will travel to the CDC offices in Atlanta, GA to attend an orientation and final showcase event to present their e-learning products.*

Who should apply? The ELI Fellowship is open to public health professionals responsible for developing training products at state, tribal, local, territorial, and provincial health departments within the United States and Canada. University and hospital teaching professionals who are involved in public health are also encouraged to apply. Federal employees and contractors and other international applicants are not eligible for the ELI Fellowship.

Skill level: Beginner to Intermediate

Time commitment: Fellowship activities require approximately 2-3 hours per week for didactic learning and discussion; however, recent graduates reported spending up to 10 hours of personal time per week once starting design and development of the e-learning product. Attendance at two in-person meetings, one in February (1 day) and one in June (1.5 days) is required. Workload, upcoming travel, and previous commitments should be heavily considered before applying. Supervisory approval is required to participate.

Applications are accepted through October 20, 2017 and selected applicants will be notified by December 1, 2017. If you have questions about the fellowship, please contact training@phf.org

*PHF funds participant travel, lodging, and meal reimbursement for the orientation and final showcase events.
