Support recent immigrants and refugees in becoming citizens and learning English

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom instruction and individual assistance to individuals seeking citizenship services
  • Lead Citizenship classes for immigrant and refugees
  • Coordinate the recruitment, training, and supervision of program volunteers to support and complement the AmeriCorps-sponsored activities
  • Support in the implementation of Citizenship Clinics and other programmatic events
  • Collaborate with other staff and programs to support client’s access to ACRS programs
  • Track and report key outcomes related to Adult Basic Education (ABE)


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Regular attendance at team and agency meetings
  • Ability to speak, write, and read English
  • Ability to speak either Vietnamese, Chinese, Spanish, Cambodian or Tagalog
  • Bachelor’s degree in social service, education or related field preferred
  • High School diploma required
  • Ability to work with English Language learners who are culturally diverse
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications
  • Some weekend and evening service is required
