Help a child thrive through volunteering!


Sewa Houston is seeking volunteers for its after-school ASPIRE Tutorials program that serves children ages 6-12.  The ASPIRE centers are based within the apartment complexes where the children live in Southwest Houston and serve underprivileged immigrant and refugee children at three separate locations. The schedules of the centers vary:


Location 1: Monday - Thursday 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Location 2: Tuesday - Friday 4:00pm - 6:00pm

Location 3: Tuesday - Friday 4:00pm - 6:00pm and Saturday 10:00am - 12:00pm


As a volunteer tutor/mentor, you will be responsible for helping students with homework, language and math tutoring, and mentoring the students in personal development.


Must be at least 16 years old.


Background check required for candidates 18 years and older.

Compassionate, highly kind and patient with the children.


Knowledgeable of cultural differences, open to learning the traditions of others.


Self-motivated, responsible, pro-active and capable of working alongside the Education Coordinators.


Strong communication skills.


Language Skills - These are not necessary, but are a big plus:
