Iowa College Aid is looking for individuals with a passion for helping others to serve as student advisers who help high school seniors to complete the steps required to attend and succeed in college. Members will provide assistance to students and expand the school district's college access programming to reach and support a larger number of students. Members will also collaborate with Iowa College Aid, school counselors, administrators, educators, and community organizations. This position provides an opportunity to make a difference in the students' lives and futures while gaining valuable work experience.

Service Locations and Times

Quarter time-450 hrs total-10 hrs a week    Part time-900 hrs total-20 hours a week   Reduced full time-1200 hrs total-27 hours a week

M-F, within the hours of 7:30 am-4:30 pm with possible evenings and weekends

Positions available in the following communities: Cedar Rapids, Sioux City, Estherville, Fort Dodge, Muscatine, Clinton, Perry, Dubuque

Member Service Activities

Provide 1:1 assistance to high school students with: College application completion, FAFSA completion, Award letter comparison, ACT/SAT registration, sending transcripts and college deposits, and other approved college-access activities

~Organize FAFSA completion events for all students

~Organize college application completion events for all students

~Identify volunteer needs and recruit/train volunteers to assist at FAFSA completion events.  Members will develop, record, and institutionalize standard volunteer management practices for program sustainability.  


~17 years old at commencement of service

~High school diploma or its equivalent or be in the process of obtaining one

~Be a citizen, national or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States

~Have a college degree or be a current college student

~Member performance evaluation at midterm and end of term
