Unique Opportunity. English Speaking Course (ESC), a local run program to improve language skills of adults in Nu Po Refugee Camp, is looking for a volunteer teacher for the highest levels. Upper Intermediate and Advanced.

The position is for three months or longer and starting date is as soon as possible.

ESC offers a room with bed, a small kitchen facility, a badminton court, great colleagues, eager students, beautiful scenery, a little rain, some mud, great community and a small food allowance.

A volunteer teacher has the great opportunity to find out about the wonderful diversity in Burma, the resilience of the camp population, the human stories with tears and laughter, the many foods, festivals and ceremonies. And most of all a teacher will encounter young and mature students who want nothing more than learn and converse. To see confidence grow is a wonderful sight. Be ware, Nu Po is addictive.

What we want from our teachers is enthusiasm, flexibility, a little humour, and interest in other people.

If you fit that description, would like to feel that mud, meet the people and just have a great experience, drop me a line.

(and we are flexible as well in case the dates don't fit you)

Ton, former ESC teacher, now coordinator, or something like that.

(Please take note that this is in a refugee camp where electricity is available but not guaranteed 24/7. Our school gets electricity from a generator. Our camp is still mobile phone free. We do have internet access, and there phone calls can be made. It is a perfect place to unwind.)
