Come serve with TerraCorps at Buzzards Bay Coalition (New Bedford, MA) or Backyard Growers (Gloucester, MA)!
TerraCorps is an innovative national service program helping communities conserve and secure land for the health and well-being of people and nature. This year, TerraCorps is looking for 36 members to join our team! As a member you will serve with one of our nonprofit partner organizations to carry out capacity building projects; educate or train individuals; recruit and manage community volunteers engaged in land-based activities; and identify new individuals and groups to participate in education, recreation, or service opportunities centered around land access and conservation.
Youth Education Coordinators (YECs) build the long-term capacity of their service site by engaging youth in service learning, experiential education, and inquiry-based science and nature learning projects. They collaborate with schools, libraries, and youth groups on projects that connect you people to the natural world, improve science literacy, and encourage healthy lifestyles. By serving with youth in an outdoor learning environment, they reinforce the connection between people, nature, and community and foster an inclusive land stewardship ethic in future generations.
Members serve in full-time (38 hours/week) 11-month positions. These 1,700 hour AmeriCorps positions receive a living allowance, education award, and additional AmeriCorps benefits. The 2018-2019 program will run from 8/27/18 – 7/26/19. Application specifics, position descriptions, and information about organizations hosting TerraCorps members can be found at www.terracorps.org/become-a-member/. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. Interviews begin late-April, and we aim to fill all positions by mid-July.
AmeriCorps programs provide equal service opportunities. TerraCorps will recruit and select persons in all positions to ensure a diverse and inclusive climate without regard to any particular status. We encourage applications from individuals with disabilities and will provide reasonable accommodations for interviews and service upon request. TerraCorps is an AmeriCorps grant program contingent on federal funding through the Corporation of National and Community Service.
