Description

Are you into integers? Excited about exponents? Passionate about polynomials?

Seeds of Literacy, an award-winning nonprofit organization that provides free GED prep and basic education to adults in the Cleveland area, has an urgent need for people like you to volunteer as adult literacy tutors. The shocking truth is that 66% of adults in Cleveland are functionally illiterate and may struggle with everyday tasks like reading a bus schedule, understanding medication labels, and budgeting money.

This is where you can make a very real difference.

The donation of your time, skills, and patience as a tutor can make a life-changing impact for an adult learner right here in our community.

Tutors work one-to-one with students to improve literacy skills, which includes math. Tutors offer encouragement and support, and help students develop positive attitudes towards learning.

We ask that tutors can commit to attending one class session per week. Classes are two hours long, and we offer a flexible class schedule with sessions throughout the daytime and evening to accommodate personal preference and availability.

We have two locations: our west side site is located at 3104 West 25th Street (corner of West 25th and Clark), Cleveland, Ohio, 44109; and our east side site is located at 13815 Kinsman Road (corner of Kinsman and E. 139th St.), Cleveland, Ohio, 44120, They offer free and secure parking.

Tutors are especially needed at our east side location.
