Since 1985 Freedom from Torture has been the only UK human rights organization dedicated to treating and supporting torture survivors who seek refuge in the UK. We do this primarily through psychological therapies but also services which document torture forensically, practical legal and welfare support and creative groups.

Thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers – as well as thousands of passionate supporters and funders – thousands of torture survivors have been able to rebuild their lives in incredibly difficult circumstances.

The purpose of the role is to provide family therapy to families who are referred to the Children, Young People and Families Team at Freedom from Torture.

The successful applicant will undertake on-going therapy with families and children with complex psychological needs and carry a client case-load. The successful applicant will also need to keep records and provide letters and psychological reports as appropriate.

The ideal candidate for the role will have the following skills:

• Experience in providing a therapeutic service to children, young people and families

• Experience of working with children, separated young people and families who have survived torture and organised violence

• A working knowledge of the Children’s Act and other relevant legislation pertain children, young separated and families

• Experience of working with interpreters
