Do you wish to make an impact on the court system by monitoring practices in the court room that save the lives of domestic violence victims? Are you hoping to enact positive social change on the systemic level? Court Watch Montgomery, a dynamic volunteer-driven nonprofit, monitors court hearings on intimate partner-related domestic violence. We seek conscientious volunteers who believe that every victim of intimate partner violence deserves rapid and comprehensive legal protection and respectful treatment by judges, lawyers, bailiffs, and court personnel. Volunteers will collect impartial data during domestic violence court sessions that will then be analyzed to inform policy and best practices to ensure equitable treatment in court. Because of the intensive resources devoted to our training process, we ask that volunteers commit to a minimum of two flexible half days of court monitoring (8:30 - 12:00) per month for a duration of a minimum of six months in the Silver Spring or Rockville courts.
