Description

East Harlem Tutorial Program offers a variety of volunteer opportunities through our public charter schools, after-school, and summer programs. The programs range from subject-matter tutoring, providing students with homework help, mentoring, and preparing high school students for college success. Volunteers support our scholars, prepare them for academic success, encourage their social enrichment, and help them gain the confidence they will need to succeed in college and in life. Check out our volunteer options below:

Out of School Time (OST) Programs

Classroom Buddies - Volunteers work in one of our Kindergarten through 5th Grade after-school classes assisting our scholars with homework, walking them through engaging classroom activities, and supporting our Assistant and Lead Teachers.

Commitment: Twice a week

When: Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Elementary Homework Help - Volunteers support our young scholars as they tackle tough homework while building supportive relationships and positively impacting their academic achievement. In small groups, volunteers address the individual needs of our scholars and focus on content they are learning during the week.

Commitment: Once a week

Road to Success - Middle School years are some of the most formative for any student. This time will determine which high school they get into, which will ultimately be a key factor in whether they go to college. Road to Success provides a small group setting where scholars receive homework help from volunteers interested in making a difference in the lives of young people.

Commitment: Once a week

When: Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Circle Up Tutoring (formerly known as University Tutoring) - Volunteers help our middle and high school scholars succeed in various subjects (Math, English, Science, History), while in a one-on-one setting. Volunteers should feel confident tutoring and demonstrate success in a 6th - 12th grade level subject.

Commitment: Once a week

When: Monday and Thursday, 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.
