The Grants Plus team is expanding and we are currently seeking a Director of Partnerships. Now is an exciting time to join Grants Plus to support our continued growth and join an experienced team of fundraising consultants.

Description of the role:

The Director of Partnerships is crucially positioned to elevate and propel the company's daily operations and future growth, client experience, and team development.

As a member of the Leadership Team, they will work alongside the President, Managing Directors, and fellow Directors to lead strategic decision-making, planning, problem solving, and activities related to staffing, policies and procedures, professional development, client satisfaction and retention, budgeting, and other vital company functions. They are confident representing the firm, our priorities, and values internally and externally.

As the leader of the Partnership Department, they are accountable to determine the staffing, resources, and leadership to support each client engagement and deliverables within the Partnerships Department.  They oversee the high-level execution of internal standards and practices and ensures the profitability of service lines related to grant writing, research, and training. They are accountable for sales strategies to retain and extend our engagements with clients. They are accountable to manage the Partnerships Department team, provides direct supervision, and guides each employee’s professional development experience.

Sophisticated leadership experience in nonprofit fund development with emphasis on grant writing. They will have a mastery of functions and skills related to grant seeking and grants management, including grant writing, research, editing, and funder strategy and relationship building. They may have experience as a development director, grants manager, or foundation relations manager.

Leadership experience including demonstrated confidence and success managing a team. As a team leader, they inspire the team to seek to be and do their best for Grants Plus and its clients. As a manager, they stay focused on moving forward department goals while providing the appropriate mentoring, intervention, and involvement to support team members. They embrace and practice direct, respectful, and clear communication.

Consulting experience, especially in a leadership role within a firm that serves nonprofit clients. They understand the context and challenges faced by nonprofit executive leaders and are confident and comfortable communicating with them about potential service solutions. They have the capacity and interest to maintain focus on multiple goals, clients, projects, and priorities at all times. They are strategic thinker who balances the big picture with the demands of day-to-day operations. 

Personal and professional attributes:

  • Understands best practices to develop and implement strategic pathways that combine new tools and process to enhance the Partnership service line.
  • Is independently motivated and proactive to offer ideas, raise questions, and propose improvements.
  • Embraces and practices direct, respectful, and clear communication.
  • Is effective interacting with people with varying personalities and communication styles.
  • Leads with empathy.
  • Has attention to detail while seeing the big picture and can set the strategy to get there.

Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience in a nonprofit fund development role or a professional services firm serving nonprofits.
  • Significant and specific experience in grant seeking and grant writing.
  • Prior experience as a supervisor.
  • An eagerness to positively contribute to our company culture and values, including to our commitment to being an anti-racist firm that strives towards building and maintaining greater diversity, equity, and inclusion within Grants Plus, the grant seeking and fundraising profession, and the nonprofit consulting sector.

Reports to: Managing Director

Location: The Director will join a remote work environment, working from anywhere in the U.S. When travel can be safely resumed, occasional travel (likely not more than once per quarter) will be expected to the firm's main office in Cleveland, Ohio, and to client offices located across the U.S.

Compensation: This is a full-time salaried leadership role. Compensation is competitive and includes generous benefits (health insurance, paid time off and company holidays, Simple IRA plan, and bonuses based on individual and company performance). Salary will be based on experience; the salary band for this role starts at $75,000.
