Position Description:

The Director of Capital Markets will manage two core components of the EBA Fund business model: EBA Fund liquidity and transactions with secondary market buyers. Closing transactions will entail negotiating final pricing, providing risk analysis support to buyers, and managing legal agreements. Ensuring liquidity will require projecting sales activity and required loan purchases in coordination with the Managing Director. The Director of Capital Markets will be expected to lead the closing process for new EBA Fund debt contracts and investments with support from the Managing Director. 

This position will be remote unless the candidate chooses to locate in a city near other RAM employees. RAM employees are currently located in Minneapolis, MN and Durham, NC.


Duties and Responsibilities:

●       Work to negotiate and close transactions with leads identified by the Relationship Manager

●       Cultivate ongoing relationships with major buyers to develop predictable forecasts for loan and capital needs

●       Forecast liquidity needs on a quarterly basis and work with Managing Director to acquire capital for balance sheet purchases

●       Manage covenants and restrictions requested by investors

●       Work with Relationship Manager to shape messaging for business development efforts

●       Manage closing process on new capital raised for EBA Fund

●       Other tasks as required

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

We are seeking an individual with at least 5 years relevant finance experience who enjoys the pace and breadth of a start-up business. Relevant finance experience could include small business lending, securitization, whole loan sales, loan syndication, loan portfolio management, and CDFI related lending. The Director must bring sufficient knowledge to be confident speaking with regional and community bank CFO’s and Treasury leaders about loan and portfolio risk, returns, and legal considerations. The Director should be able to model portfolio performance and capital needs. Candidates with additional experience with CDFIs and CRA will be given priority, but it is not a requirement.

RAM works almost entirely on EBA Fund, with additional efforts centered on related consulting. We are a start-up aiming to reinvent the capital markets for community development. This is not easy. To succeed in changing paradigms around CDFI small business loans and secondary markets, every opportunity needs to be seized; that often means the whole team rolling up sleeves and getting work done. All employees are expected to be empathetic, hard-working, and team players.

●      5 years of relevant finance experience

●      Entrepreneurial attitude and the ability to adjust role and expectations in a rapidly developing environment

●      Strong communication and sales skills, with the ability to independently source new business

●      Demonstrated ability to transition sales leads to negotiated and closed transactions while creating a long-term customer

●      The ability to articulate  complicated financial information in simple terms

●      Passion to deliver high-quality customer service

●      Ability to create and navigate financial models of portfolios and cash needs

●      Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to calmly handle a large workload

Experience with CDFIs and CRA highly valued
