Human Resources Generalist- Compliance Assistant, Managed Organizations  (Washington, DC; Durham, NC; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; or San Francisco, CA)

The HR Generalist- Compliance Assistant works on a highly collaborative, client-facing team to execute regular tasks associated with maintaining personnel compliance. In addition to supporting processes associated with hiring, on-boarding and maintaining personnel files, benefits and time-keeping records, the HR Generalist- Compliance Assistant is involved in executing risk assessment and audit programs and researching legal and regulatory obligations. The HR Generalist- Compliance Assistant also works with cross-departmental teams to translate regulatory requirements into systems and processes; monitors the effectiveness of controls designed to meet obligations on a regular, and ongoing basis; and develops and tracks process improvements to mitigate risk. These projects may be driven by new legal and regulatory requirements, geographies, types of business, solution implementations, or emerging risk issues, among other things. This is a full-time position.

Essential Responsibilities

Client Service

  • Respond in an accurate and timely manner to all client-facing inquiries
  • Troubleshoot issues and solve problems independently or escalate when necessary
  • Complete regular shifts in MOHR case triage including responding to a variety of inquiries across HR functions and/or escalating and assigning as appropriate.
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects across HR functions when and as assigned

Compliance Systems

  • Maintaining and Updating Portal Notices, including mandatory Labor Law Postings
  • Process Mail in accordance with mail tracking system
  • Work cooperatively with various team members to ensure implementation and    management of HR processes designed for regulatory compliance
  • Complete other HR risk and compliance related projects as assigned

Data Systems

  • Respond in an accurate and timely manner to data requests, including those that require the combination of information from multiple systems
  • Complete accurate and timely Benefits enrollment and invoice reconciliation and updates, develop and produce of invoice back-up
  • Complete Routine and ad-hoc internal personnel reporting including time reporting, demographic reporting, COVID-19 and other leave trackers, and regulatory filings
  • Compile, format and submit data reports for required external filings

To Be Successful in This Role, You’ll Need:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 1-2 years of HR experience
  • Working knowledge of current and upcoming HR legislation
  • Excellent capability in Excel
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft SharePoint, PowerPoint
  • Strong research skills
  • Ability to think critically
  • Outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong client service and interpersonal skills such as tact and diplomacy
  • Highly effective at communicating analysis, recommendations, and conclusions
  • Ability to draft high-quality correspondence and written materials
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification desired
  • Personal Integrity
  • Passion for philanthropy, nonprofits, or foundation operations
  • Ability to easily and seamlessly transition between open issues and multiple projects

Total Rewards (compensation and benefits)

This is a full time position. We offer a competitive and holistic total rewards package that includes salary, bonus, and benefits. Our base salaries are based on a blend of similar sized organizations from different sectors, including nonprofits, foundations, and professional service firms. They are also based on local market rates and differentiated by geography.

All full-time staff are eligible for our generous benefits package on their first day of employment:

Working with Us

While this position must be based in DC, Durham, Chicago, New York, or San Francisco, please note that due to COVID-19, all Arabella Advisors' offices are closed, and we continue to temporarily work in a remote environment.

When we reopen -- currently anticipated in early 2022 -- we will be returning to work with a hybrid workplace strategy to ensure continued flexibility for our staff, while deepening our strong culture rooted in collaboration and in-person interactions between colleagues. It is our expectation that once we reopen, Arabellans will generally work 2-4 days per week from the office and 2-4 days at home/remotely.
