HYBRID LOCATION - New York City (Midtown location) with remote work 1-2 days a week.

SENIOR ADVISOR – LATIN AMERICA

WHO WE ARE

The King Baudouin Foundation United States (KBFUS) is a 501(c)(3) public charity that facilitates thoughtful, effective giving across borders. We work with individuals, families, corporations and foundations and help them support their favorite causes and organizations overseas. In addition, we partner with foreign nonprofits so they can receive tax-deductible gifts from U.S. donors, while saving the trouble and expense of setting up their own charity in the United States. Over the past 3 years, KBFUS facilitated over $130 million in grants, providing much needed funding to hundreds of nonprofits across the globe, working in a broad diversity of fields. See www.kbfus.org

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

KBFUS has historically focused its efforts on facilitating giving to nonprofits based in Europe and Africa. Our Board recently approved expanding our focus to include Latin America and the Caribbean. The Senior Advisor - Latin America will contribute critical leadership in this context. Building on our experience in other regions, the Senior Advisor will formulate and implement a strategy to develop our networks of U.S. based donors with philanthropic interest in Latin America, and of Latin American nonprofits with high potential for fundraising in the U.S.; look at opportunities to launch educational programs targeting Latin American nonprofits, such as webinars on fundraising; and shape public-facing messaging through a strategic communications plan that elevates the profile of both KBFUS and its partners in the region. The Senior Advisor - Latin America reports directly to the Executive Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing our networks

  • Formulate and implement a strategy to develop our networks of individual, corporate and foundation donors with interest in Latin America and the Caribbean, through contacts and strategic partnerships with key organizations, trusted partners, and diaspora networks, and building on our existing relations with community foundations and wealth advisors etc.
  • Identify and outreach to nonprofit organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean, including leading museums and universities, and high-potential social entrepreneurs, to promote our American Friends Fund services.

Launching educational programs and events

  • Look at opportunities to launch educational programs targeting Latin American nonprofits, building on our existing experience with study visit programs on the American fundraising model and webinars targeting high-potential nonprofits, in partnership with local partners.
  • Organize various events to spotlight some of our most creative partners from the Latin American continent, in an effort to connect them with investors and philanthropists.

Shaping public-facing messaging

  • Lead the development and implementation of a communications plan that elevates the profile of both KBFUS and its Latin American partners – making use of our website, annual snapshot, monthly enews and other tools, and further build our presence on social media.
  • Represent KBFUS at domestic and international conferences, events, and online forums.

Additional responsibilities to be defined, depending on interest and talents
