Regeneration Field Institute

Regeneration Field Institute (RFI) is a social and environmental enterprise based in the San Francisco Bay Area of California and the province of Manabí in coastal Ecuador. We collaborate on diverse research with professors and graduate students and provide students with hands-on, interdisciplinary courses exploring bamboo building, design, environmental restoration and economic development through regenerative agriculture. In Ecuador, our work focuses on regenerative farming and building techniques on our 70-acre farm, Los Arboleros and in surrounding communities. In 2016 our Institute was born out of a North American and Ecuadorian coalition of architects, engineers, carpenters, builders, designers, farmers, and community members modeling green building and reconstruction efforts in earthquake-stricken regions of coastal Ecuador. Los Arboleros Farm focuses on the production of timber bamboo, native timber, banana, plantain, citrus, cacao, moringa, and diverse fruits and vegetables.
