Position Description:

The Deputy Program Operations Director will lead three regional teams across the state to support and implement the various AmeriCorps and California Volunteers Programs.  The Deputy will oversee a staff of 6 Portfolio Specialists.  The Deputy will coordinate with the Deputy of Programs Director, the various program Directors, Communications and Digital infrastructure to set and execute the regional implementations strategic plans. The Deputy Program Operations Director must have a commitment to serving California’s diverse communities throughout the administration of the program and must create a work environment that celebrates diverse backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences.

Duties:

60%     Regional Implementation of California Volunteers Programs

·        Define and execute regional program implementation plans. Programs include Climate Action Corps, Disaster Services, the College Fellowship program, and general Volunteerism. 

·        Directly supervise 6 Regional Portfolio Specialists focused on volunteer coordination and project operationalization.

·        Coordinate program implementation planning with Digital Infrastructure and Communications.

·        Coordinate with External Relations Director and the Regional Managers to assess regional culture, resources, and various activities in key focus areas to best determine how to integrate with CV programs.

·        Maintain knowledge of changing laws and best practices in the volunteer/service field, with a particular focus on issue areas related to CV programs.

·        Develop and maintain key corporate and business relationships to participate in local projects.

·        Develop and maintain relationships with community-based organization leads

35%     Continuous Improvement and Reporting

·        Monitor program implementation success and challenges. Conduct risk analyses for program success.  Collect and report program data in executive dashboard.

·        Collaborate with Program Leadership to improve current program design as needed and identify new strategies for program delivery.

·        Set community assessment process with regional teams to determine ongoing community volunteer and climate activity needs and opportunities. 

5%        Other Duties as Assigned

·        Work with the Website Developer and the Digital Infrastructure Officer to ensure proper maintenance and management of the volunteer platform/database infrastructure. Additionally, working with Data Manager in making sure data/metrics collected is accurate for reporting.

·        Coordinate with Digital Liaison to ensure all available tools leveraged by Regional Portfolio Specialists

Qualifications:

-         Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience in the volunteer management field.

-         Five years managerial experience.

-         Strong written and oral communications skills.

-         Ability to manage multiple projects at one time, particularly those that are high-profile and time sensitive.

-         Excellent working knowledge of the volunteer field, best practices, and key partners.

-         Experience developing and maintaining complex partnerships.

-         Strong computer skills.

-         Ability to deploy short notice to disasters and work up to 12 hours per day, if necessary.

-         Proven commitment to creating a work environment that celebrates diverse backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences.
