Descripción

Under the general direction of the Workforce Data Officer, the Research Data Specialist III will be responsible for gathering, evaluating, and analyzing economic and demographic information for systemic discrimination cases to identify possible systemic violations of laws and regulations enforced by the California Civil Rights Department (Department). The incumbent will design and conduct statistical analyses in economics, sociology, or demography that can serve as evidence of discrimination. They will provide advice and guidance to leadership, attorneys, and other subject matter experts on plans for gathering information and evidence (e.g., data, policies and practices, etc.) during the investigation or litigation of matters involving employment and housing discrimination, denial of services by a public accommodation, human trafficking, and acts of hate violence in accordance with the Fair Employment and Housing Act, Ralph Civil Rights Act, Unruh Civil Rights Act and the Disabled Persons Act, as well as other applicable laws and regulations. The incumbent will evaluate the utility of data for analytical purposes and identify the appropriate statistical techniques for analyses on topics relevant to the Department, including, but not limited to, employment and housing discrimination. They will review research studies and methodological approaches to assess, develop, and apply analytical techniques for identifying systemic discrimination. The incumbent may be called upon to testify as a methodological expert on behalf of the Department.

  4. Describe your experience with, and approach to, providing advice and technical consulting to senior/executive, legal, and other staff seeking expert assistance on aspects of statistical studies including design, analysis, and interpretation.
  5. Describe your experience maintaining confidential data and analyses.
