The Human Rights & Law Internship in Palestine Program (1-12 weeks)

The Law & Human Rights Internship in Palestine Program is an informative program that provides you with information about the human rights situation in Palestine especially Women’s and Children’s Rights and the work of human rights NGOs in the city of Hebron. 

The program is designed to give you a better understanding of the situation of human rights in Palestine, including the numerous violations, and provide you with actual experience from the ground. In addition, the program gives you the opportunity to know, understand, and engage with the Palestinian legal system. As a participant in this program, you will be able to learn about the judicial system and how the courts operate in Palestine.

The Law & Human Rights Internship in Palestine gives you the chance to promote awareness of human rights, especially the rights of children, women, refugees, etc., and to deepen the democratic understanding and awareness of society, especially marginalized groups of their social, economic, cultural, political and citizenship rights and all rights guaranteed by international laws.

This program is for individuals who want to become acquainted with Palestinian law and learn how judges, prosecutors, and lawyers handle the diversity of cases that are received by the courts in Palestine.

The Benefits of the Human Rights in Palestine Program

• You will meet human rights activists, organizations, lawyers, and trainee lawyers working in courts in Hebron city as well as get to know the existing mechanisms of protecting human rights in Palestine.
• You will meet with the Palestinian people who live in areas within the city of Hebron that are under Israeli control named “H1,” who is a particularly strong example of those suffering from the occupation violations, and being routinely harassed by Israeli settlers.
• A participant will have the opportunity to organize workshops on a topic related to the program; or present workshops that teach a variety of skills, such as academic writing, writing biography, drawing, first aid, theater, music, and other skills.
• The participant will engage in the Palestinian community, culture, and daily life.
• Participants will be visiting city historical sites.
• Day Trips to refugee camps in Hebron & Bethlehem and some areas of political importance.
• All participants will receive 3 hours of Arabic language lessons per week.
• Accommodation is provided for the length of the program, either residing with a Palestinian host family or at our 8th-floor apartment. Private accommodation is also available with extra fees.
• A Palestinian breakfast is provided every day and enjoyed with other international volunteers and staff.
