Agency Description & Program Model:

At HER Resiliency Center (HER), we provide young women, ages 18 to 25, overcoming various forms of hardships, a safe environment where they can receive the support, skills, and resources needed to make positive decisions and thrive.

HER emphasizes each young woman being aware of her own needs, while also receiving guidance along her journey to independence and self-sufficiency. An important component of the HER model is allowing space for the young women to share about her own life experiences, hear about the path of others, and learn positive life skills through demonstrated healthy living. A crucial component of the HER model is for staff to share their own past struggles and victories in order to demonstrate empathy and understanding toward those we serve. Both staff and the young women are on a “peer level” with each other. This position requires an understanding of trauma and being available to attend necessary training to ensure this competency.

Job Description:

The Skills & Strengths Facilitator delivers comprehensive, one-to-one support to the young women engaged at HER Resiliency Center. Each Skills & Strengths Facilitator has responsibility, under the supervision of the Program Manager, for working directly with up to 25 young women at a time who are working to achieve independence and a self-sufficient adulthood. In addition, this position facilitates workshops and organizational activities that build the HER Community, in collaboration with other team members. This position requires flexibility in work hours to meet the needs of the women served. Position requires a vehicle and good driving record. This position requires some evenings and weekends and the ability to be on-call on a rotating scheduled basis. This is an in person position.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Complete intakes for new participants using a trauma-informed approach to build trust and facilitate engagement.
  2. Develop individualized goal plans with participants to assist in identifying and prioritizing needs.
  3. Intervene to support participants in accomplishing tasks necessary for achieving independence.
  4. Take the extra mile and engage with participants to keep track of their progress and to ensure satisfaction.
  5. Facilitate connection to collaborative agencies to address participants’ mental health and/or substance use recovery when appropriate. Conduct necessary follow-up to ensure successful outcomes in these domains.
  6. Co-facilitate workshops focused on skill development including: food and nutrition management, home and self-care, money management, and safe community participation.
  7. Participate in program evaluation to determine efficacy of individual and group interventions.
  8. Complete ongoing trainings as necessary.
  9. Complete documentation of individual and group sessions in a timely manner, as determined by supervisor.
  10. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  2. Apply the principles of trauma-informed care to all interactions with participants. (Training will be provided.)

  4. Possess strong written and oral communication skills; be able to respond with empathy and remain focused on seeking solutions in challenging situations.
  5. Be committed to ongoing professional development and able to implement new skills and techniques in real-time.
  6. Demonstrate respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, interacting with staff and participants in a manner that honors the dignity and self-worth of each individual.
  7. Remain flexible in adapting to the changing demands of a new non-profit agency.
  8. Willingness to bring a creative ideas to meet the needs of the young women we serve.

Education:

Bachelor's degree preferred. In lieu of a 4-year degree, we welcome applicants with 3-5 years of similar work experience.
