Do you enjoy understanding the inner workings of technology and designing robust, efficient systems? Do you love to take ownership over the development and release of a product? Do you want to be challenged, learn a ton of skills, be on the cutting edge of economic justice work, have a good laugh, brainstorm a lot, get frustrated sometimes but inspired frequently, and be on the right side of history?

Mission Asset Fund (MAF) is looking for a Product Manager to join the MAF Lab, our Research & Development team, to drive the execution of technical projects to build and maintain technology products to scale MAF’s impact. Your primary responsibility will be to guide the implementation of new technologies, products, and systems within the organization from conception to launch in close collaboration with the COO, Programs team, Finance team, and our remote Engineering Team. This role will specifically focus on our mobile app, MyMAF.

This is the perfect role for an experienced professional seeking to grow their technical and project management skills in the context of working towards a critical mission. We expect this individual to learn quickly and take ownership on projects within the first few months in the role. MAF intends to invest in the professional development of this position so that they can grow and develop, gaining increasing levels of responsibility and opportunity over time.

Our story: Mission Asset Fund is a groundbreaking nonprofit on a mission to create a fair financial marketplace for hardworking families. Our award-winning social loan models build pathways out of the financial shadows for low-income individuals across the U.S. A hybrid between a fintech startup and community-based nonprofit, MAF retains a highly skilled and motivated team that is committed to promoting economic prosperity and leveraging tech for under-resourced communities.

MAF has founded a Research and Development Lab to design and incubate new financial products that serve to improve the financial wellbeing of low-income families across the country. The MAF Lab is founded on human-centered design process where there is a continuous virtuous cycle: research, design, test, iterate, build, and more research. The MAF Lab operates out of its own R&D hub across the street from MAF HQ.

One of the MAF Lab’s demonstrated successes is the launch of MyMAF, a mobile app released last November that provides financial coaching tools to financially empower clients at scale. MyMAF is one of the few mobile apps built by a nonprofit and has experienced significant adoption by our clients.

As MAF grows, we need a passionate Product Manager who can work with our team to keep MAF on the cutting edge of technology. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants not just a job, but also an opportunity to build financial power for people of color and immigrants, strengthen communities, and be part of a culture that is committed to social justice.

An awesome team to work with: This is a fully remote position with potential opportunities for regular meetups in our San Francisco office for local candidates. You will be working with a team that is ridiculously dedicated to the mission and fun to work with. We are extremely collaborative and embrace teamwork as a core value. As a nonprofit and tech startup, we attract people who like to jump in with both feet and who aren’t afraid of learning how to do better. Hailing from many different cultural and professional backgrounds, we are drawn together by a passion for embracing technology and creativity to make the world a better place for hardworking families.
