    The Maria Lida Foundation is a U.S. nonprofit organization with the mission of promoting selfsustaining economic development in Alausí, Ecuador through tourism, education, and training programs. To support its mission, the Maria Lida Foundation provides education and training activities to adults in the Alausí, Ecuador community to prepare them for careers in the tourism industry. In addition, the Foundation’s activities and partnerships foster the development of local businesses and tourism in the area. These efforts aim to promote economic development in the area by creating jobs and raising the area’s standard of living.

    Summary:

    Pursue a Career with Impact! Make a difference by bringing your skills and passion to the Maria Lida Foundation. As Program Director you will mobilize your team in Ecuador to meet program targets and achieve desired results. Your leadership will contribute to effectively developing and managing the Maria Lida Foundation’s educational, training and development activities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Monitor the progress of the English classes/program activities, manage the coordination with teachers, communication to students, promotion of classes, ensuring class materials are ready, and evaluate the program through key performance indicators.
    • Develop and maintain key partnerships in Alausí to continue to promote the Foundation including local businesses, schools, indigenous communities, government officials, civic societies, etc.
    • Represent the organization and maintain and develop new partnerships in areas outside of Alausí (such as Quito, Riobamba, Galapagos Islands) including indigenous communities, Ministers, nonprofit organizations, government officials, businesses, civic societies, etc.
    • Manage program budgets and to ensure funds are being allocated appropriately.
    • Compile reports to the CEO/U.S. Board on a regular basis through weekly, quarterly, and annual reporting, and regular communication via email and phone call with CEO.
    • Manage the activities the Foundation is conducting in Alausí, Ecuador and any future Ecuadorian sites the Foundation operates in. Review the activities and innovate ways to improve.
    • Collaborate with the U.S. Board and CEO to develop new programs including new English cohort sites, launching business cohorts, and working with partners to find new areas of impact the organization can be involved in.
    • Work with the U.S. Board and CEO to increase the organization’s operating budget through fundraising and revenue generation.

    Overview of Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, education, or relevant social science discipline (Master’s degree a plus) required.
    • English and Spanish language skills at an advanced level required.
    • Relevant experience in education, leading and managing international teams, representing an organization, communicating results, and maintaining and developing partnerships.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness.
    • Knowledge of issues of international development.
    • Must enjoy strategy, engaging and motivating team members and employees, innovative thinking, collaborating, achieving results, and being part of a growing organization.

    Contract Position: January 2025 – December 2025 (annual contract renewal possible)

    Hours: Three days a week (part-time) or five days a week (full-time)

    Salary: Salary range is approximately $850-$1,400/month gross depending on the number of days worked per week. Salary range can be negotiable based on experience.
